Mandana Karimi Does Solo Protest At Mumbai’s Bandstand For Women’s Rights In Iran; Deets Inside!

Amidst the ongoing protests in Iran demanding women’s rights, actress Mandana Karimi, who rose to fame after her stint on Bigg Boss 9 and Lock Upp, head out to stage a solo protest for females of her native place. She took to the streets of Mumbai with a placard that depicted happenings in Iran through texts and pictures.

Videos and photos of Karimi from the campaign are going increasingly viral on social media. On her Instagram handle, she shared a video of herself standing in solidarity with women of her country. The Humshakals actress captioned the clip, “For Iran, for my mother’s tears, for my brother’s broken face and heart, for sleepless nights, for freedom for life.”

But as her account is private on Instagram, Mandana took to Twitter to spread the word. “I wasn’t protesting against the hijab!! I was out to support my people, who are fighting For human rights! basic human rights! Like having the choice to wear a scarf or not, getting a dog, having the right to divorce, getting their child’s custody, being able to hold hands on the streets, the choice to study whatever major they desire, not getting arrested by mortality police…Human rights! Not anti-Islam or anti-hijab! JUST HUMAN RIGHTS!! Get your facts correct media! That’s why I’m not speaking with any media as I don’t trust them, they have used and twisted my words and actions!! My msg is clear on the board which I’m holding! Be our voice!!!!,” she explained.

Before this, Mandana Karimi hit headlines for quitting Bollywood as a protest against MeToo accused Sajid Khan’s entry in Bigg Boss 16.

For the unversed, women of Iran are going through tough times. A youngster named Mahsa Amini was arrested for not wearing hijab properly in accordance with the country’s strict religious laws and showing some of her tresses. She died in police custody on September 16. While Police are saying that she died of a heart attack, eyewitnesses have revealed that the 22-year-old was beaten to death. The country is currently raging with protests for women freedom.
