Manoj Bajpayee Slams ‘Fake, Patched-Up’ Video Ahead Of Bihar Election, Denies Allegiance With Political Parties

Actor Manoj Bajpayee has publicly responded to the circulation of a fabricated video that allegedly showed him endorsing a specific political party ahead of the 2025 Bihar Election. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the actor categorically denied any political affiliation and urged the public to stop sharing the “distorted content.”

The actor’s swift clarification comes as public figures increasingly face challenges from deceptive editing and deepfake technology.

Manoj Bajpayee Denies Political Allegiance

Manoj Bajpayee addressed the controversy directly on his X account, explaining that the video in question was a manipulated version of an old advertisement.

“I would like to publicly state that I have no association or allegiance with any political party,” he wrote. “The video being circulated is a fake, patched-up edit of an ad I did for @PrimeVideoIN.”

He re-shared a link to the doctored video, which has since been deleted, and sincerely appealed to his fans and followers “to stop spreading such distorted content and urge people not to engage with or encourage such misleading content.” His statement makes it clear that his image was misused for political gain.

Online Reaction and Concerns Over Deepfakes

The actor’s clarification was met with widespread appreciation and concern from social media users about the rise of manipulated digital content.

One fan commented, “Glad you clarified it. People should verify before believing such edited clips,” while another noted the seriousness of the issue: “In today’s digital age, deepfakes and deceptive editing are a genuine threat to every public figure’s reputation.” A separate user pointed out the threat such manipulation poses to democracy: “Relying on such manipulated content to assign party allegiance undermines the very foundation of informed political discourse.” Some users suggested the actor should take legal action, with one tweeting, “File a defamation suit.”

This incident underscores a broader problem plaguing the industry, where several high-profile celebrities, including Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar, Suniel Shetty, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Akshay Kumar, have been forced to approach courts to protect their personality rights from being violated by deepfake videos and AI manipulation.

Manoj Bajpayee’s Upcoming Projects

On the professional front, Manoj Bajpayee continues to star in critically acclaimed projects. He was recently seen in the film Jugnuma (The Fable), directed by Raam Reddy, which was presented by Guneet Monga and Anurag Kashyap. The film, which also featured Tillotama Shome and Deepak Dobariyal, was released in cinemas on September 12.

Fans are now eagerly awaiting his return as the iconic Srikant Tiwari in the highly anticipated third season of the Prime Video spy action thriller series, The Family Man. Created by Raj & DK, the series co-stars Priyamani, Sharib Hashmi, and Sharad Kelkar, and is expected to release its new season later this year.
