Acclaimed designer and actor Masaba Gupta has announced her pregnancy with actor-husband Satyadeep Mishra, marking a joyous milestone in their lives. This revelation follows Masaba’s previous reflections on motherhood, which she shared in a candid interview with The Indian Express in 2022.
Reflecting on the notion of modern womanhood and the societal pressures surrounding it, Masaba expressed her stance on having a child out of wedlock, stating firmly, “Being a modern woman, do I have the guts to have a baby out of wedlock? Never. I don’t want to take that extra pressure, and put a child in that space.”
This perspective, rooted in personal values and experiences, sheds light on the complexities individuals face in navigating societal expectations.
Masaba’s Upbringing
Born to single mother Neena Gupta in 1989, Masaba has long been familiar with the spotlight and the judgments that accompany it. Her father, the legendary West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards, never married Neena.
Masaba remarked, “I have been tagged as too modern for being born out of wedlock. Honestly, it’s wonderful to be modern, but no size fits everyone.” This introspection highlights the need for acceptance and tolerance in an increasingly judgmental society.
Masaba and Satyadeep announce pregnancy
Masaba’s pregnancy announcement, made via her Instagram handle, captured the hearts of many. Accompanied by a pregnant emoji and an intimate picture of herself and Satyadeep, she wrote, “In other news – Two little feet are on their way to us! Please send love, blessings and banana chips (plain salted ONLY) #babyonboard #mom&dad (black heart emoji).”
How the Instagram family reacted
The joyous news garnered an outpouring of love and well-wishes from celebrities and fans alike. Notable figures such as Ananya Panday, Parineeti Chopra, Karisma Kapoor, and Shilpa Shetty extended their congratulations to the parents-to-be.
Even Masaba’s mother, Neena Gupta, took to Instagram to share the excitement, expressing, “Humare bacchon ka baccha aane Wala hai. Isse zyada Khushi ki baat Kya ho sakti hai (Our children are going to welcome their child. What can be happier than this).”
