Today, i.e. Saturday 1 June, is the seventh and last phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024. During this, actor and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Mithun Chakraborty stepped out to cast his vote in his native place Kolkata. He cast his vote at a polling booth in Belgachia, Kolkata. The actor, who came out after casting his vote, interacted with the media persons present there. He said that he stood in the queue for 40 minutes to cast his vote, as he wanted to do his duty of participating in the elections.

Several pictures and videos of the actor-politician have surfaced on social media platforms. During this, he is seen wearing a black kurta, cap, and sunglasses. Talking to reporters outside the polling station, he said, ‘It is my duty as a citizen to vote and I voted. I waited in the queue for 40 minutes and then cast my vote. People told me to go ahead and break the queue to vote, but I did not do so because I knew it was not right.’

Mithun Chakraborty revealed that he will no longer talk about politics. He said, ‘I have completed my political duties and from now on I will only talk about films.’ Mithun said that I am a BJP worker, I have done my duty. I will talk about films from tomorrow, because I also have to feed my family.

Talking about the actor’s political career, Mithun joined politics in the year 2014, when he was nominated by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for Rajya Sabha MP. In December 2016, he resigned as Rajya Sabha MP and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in March 2021.
