She is now coming up next with the web series titled ‘Showtime’ which she feels is close narrative that hits close to home for her since she has been a part of showbiz for over a decade now During the trailer launch event of the same, Mouni opened up on the struggles she continues to face in Bollywood.
Mouni Roy reveals the dark side of Bollywood
During her interaction with the media, Mouni Roy said that many filmmakers told her she doesn’t possess the talent to be a Bollywood actor and that she won’t be able to make it in showbiz. Mouni called Bollywood a difficult industry and stated, “Along with hard work, you also have to brace a lot of challenges. There is this struggle that you cannot deny and there is no shortcut as such.”
The ‘Brahmastra‘ star disclosed how she has been getting typecast in glamorous roles in the film industry. She attributed the same to the roles she portrayed on screen and the image she carries on her social media handle. “However, there are directors who see me for the actor that I am and how I can get under the skin of different characters,” she added.
Mouni Roy’s upcoming project
Mouni Roy is coming up next with the web show ‘Showtime’. The series will depict the underbelly of Bollywood.
It will give an insight into how the film industry works and what goes behind delivering a perfect film. Mouni will play a glam queen in the show alongside Emraan Hashmi who will essay the role of a producer. Karan Johar has bankrolled the series. ‘Showtime’ will stream on Disney+ Hotstar from March 8.
