Mumbai Rains Live Update: 20 Killed, Sonam Asks for Flight Status.

According to officials, at least 13 people were killed in a wall crash in Malad, around 1 am on Tuesday. Early on Tuesday, the compound wall of the Sinhagad College in Pune crashed on some hutments beside, killing at least seven persons.

As the IMD predicted extremely heavy to very heavy rains in parts of coastal Konkan, the Maharashtra government declared a public holiday for Mumbai city.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport in Mumbai is flooded with water and many flights have been called off. Bollywood celeb  Sonam Kapoor tweeted  to check if the airport is working. Replying to her tweet, Rakul Preet Singh, who has been stranded at the airport since last night revealed that operations had come to a grinding halt.

In her post, Sonam Kapoor asked, “Can anyone tell me if the airport is open? @mybmc @MumbaiPolice @BOMairport”. To which De De Pyaar De actress Rakul Preet Singh replied, “No flights have taken off since last night .. m stuck at the airport”. 

Photo Journalist, Viral Bhayani shared a video of the airport waterlogged due to heavy rains. In his post, he wrote,” I know we all wished for the rains but we got more than we asked for in-out plate today. Scenes from the international airport today #mumbairains #mimbai #t2 @viralbhayani

 Due to heavy downpour in Mumbai, the main runway at the airport is shut down and rail services have also been affected, most parts of the cities are waterlogged, there is terrible traffic congestion on the road. Rains have so far claimed around 50 lives in the past five days in the state so far.
