‘My Car Was Stopped By A Mob, They Hit My Bonnet Hard’, Sumona Chakraborty Attacked In Mumbai By Maratha Reservation Protesters

Small-screen actress and stand-up comedian Sumona Chakraborty has posted a long post on Instagram. In this post, she has said that on August 31, her car was attacked by a group of people who were protesting for Maratha reservation in South Mumbai. Due to which she was feeling unsafe while sitting in her car. She told that this incident happened in the afternoon, when she was going from Colaba to Fort.

Let us tell you that Sumona Chakraborty wrote on her Instagram, ‘Today at 12:30 pm. I was going from Colaba to Fort. And suddenly, my car was stopped by a mob. A man wearing an orange stole was hitting my bonnet hard, smiling. He was pressing his stomach against my car. He started dancing in front of me. His companions came near the glass of my car and were shouting Jai Maharashtra and laughing. We moved a little ahead, and then the same thing happened.’

Sumona further told that the policemen were there, but they were sitting and were not doing anything. She said that she was feeling unsafe even in broad daylight. And the streets were littered with banana peels, plastic bottles, and garbage. The actress said that the footpaths were occupied by people. The protesters are eating, sleeping, bathing, cooking, urinating, defecating, making video calls, and making reels in the name of protest.

The actress further said, ‘I felt like recording the video, but soon realized that this could further incite them and maybe they could harm me. So I did not do it. It was scary to realize that no matter who you are, or where you are, law and order can collapse in an instant.’ The actress said that she is upset to see all this, since citizens have the right to feel safe in this country.
