‘My Film Achieved Milestone Without Obscenity Or Bloodshed’, Nag Ashwin Takes A Dig At Sandeep Vanga Reddy’s Animal

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ continues to dominate the box office. According to the makers, this science fiction dystopian action drama has crossed the Rs 1000 crore mark worldwide. Celebrating the film’s success, director Nag Ashwin wrote a note, ‘Highlighting the fact that the film has achieved the milestone of Rs 1000 crore business without any ‘obscenity’ or ‘bloodshed’.’ However, he soon deleted his post, but by then it had gone viral on social media. Social media users believe that through this post he had taken a dig at Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s directorial film ‘Animal’.

On his Instagram Stories, Nag Ashwin shared a poster of Prabhas as Karna in the film and wrote, ‘This milestone, this number is obviously huge for a young team like ours. But the fact is that we have achieved it without bloodshed, obscenity, provocative or exploitative content. A big thank you to the audience and the actors who stood behind us.’ However, he soon deleted his post when he realised that his post was misinterpreted as a dig at Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’, which was trolled for its bold scenes between Ranbir Kapoor and Tripti Dimri.

A user on X shared a screenshot of the filmmaker’s now-deleted post and wrote, ‘The budget is four times that of Animal and has a casting like Amitabh, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Dulquer Salmaan etc and comparing himself to Vanga who made a blockbuster film with just music screenplay and Ranbir Kapoor.’ Another wrote, ‘If you think Nag Ashwin is taking a dig at Sandeep Reddy Vanga, then you agree that Animal is nothing without obscenity and provocative content.’

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ stars Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani in the lead roles apart from Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan. It has a dystopian world. The post-apocalyptic film is inspired by Hindu scriptures and is set in the year 2898 AD. The film is produced by Vyjayanthi Movies.
If we take the trade figures into consideration, the Nag Ashwin directorial has earned Rs 1000 crore and surpassed ‘Animal’ which had grossed Rs 915 crore. Prabhas headlined ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan. Prabhas has a film titled ‘Spirit’ with Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
