Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, now 59, continues to reign as the industry’s most eligible bachelor. However, his father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, recently shed light on why these romances never culminated in marriage.
Marriage rumors have long followed Salman, with one of the most frequently asked questions being, “When will Salman Khan get married?” Speculation has grown over his alleged relationship with Romanian actress and television personality Iulia Vantur. The two have been spotted together on numerous occasions, with Iulia even accompanying Salman’s family to Jamnagar during his recent birthday celebrations. Despite these developments, the actor has remained unmarried, and his father’s revelations might offer some insight into why.
An old interview with Salim Khan, which recently resurfaced online, delves into Salman’s complex relationship with the idea of marriage. Speaking to film critic Komal Nahata, Salim said, “Salman ka pata nahi kya hai… Salman ki ek toh is wajah se bhi shaadi nahi hoti hai ki thoda sa contradiction bhi hai Salman ki thinking main (There is a contradiction in Salman’s thinking, which is one reason he hasn’t married).”
Salim suggested that Salman’s conservative mindset plays a significant role. According to him, the actor often finds himself attracted to his co-stars, with whom he shares an intimate working environment. “Jab commitment ho jaata hai toh voh usko convert karne ki koshish karta hai, usme apni maa dhoondta hai. Voh toh possible nahi hai (After commitment, he tries to convert them and looks for his mother in them. That is not possible),” Salim elaborated.
Another contributing factor, according to Salim, is Salman’s desire for a traditional marriage, where his partner would leave her career to focus on home life—something that has not aligned with the aspirations of the women he has been involved with.
On the work front, Salman Khan recently made a cameo appearance in the film Baby John and is gearing up for his much-anticipated 2025 Eid release, Sikandar. For now, the actor’s personal life remains a subject of intrigue for fans and the media alike.
