A flashback to the moment Neelima Azeem assisted Amrita Rao in acting out a scene in which she would slap Shahid Kapoor, the former’s son. Many moviegoers still find themselves emotionally moved by Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao’s well-known tale of adolescent love, Ishq Vishk.

In a previous radio interview, Amrita Rao discussed her 2003 hit movie, Ishq Vishk, with her husband, RJ Anmol. Amid all the joyous recollections of filming, the actress remembered struggling to perform a specific scene in which she was meant to slap her co-star, Shahid Kapoor. Amrita struggled to finish the scene, leaving her confused as she had never slapped anyone before. But it was Neelima Azeem, Shahid’s mother, who also appeared in the movie, who helped Amrita. The latter stated:

“This was the first time I was slapping someone for real… Something interesting happened during that, so Shahid’s mother, Neelima Azim ji, who is also a wonderful actress, would mostly hang out with us during the shoot and since I had no formal training in acting, she used to give a lot of tips. I remember that she was there at the corner of my eye standing and motivating me saying ‘Amrita you have to do this, you have to slap him. It was funny and at the same time, very encouraging and finally, I did it and he was so happy with the reaction he got.”

Following the success of Ishq Vishk, Shahid and Amrita worked together on several other films, including Vivah, Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi, and Shikhar. Because of their captivating on-screen chemistry, everyone started to speculate that the two might be dating. Furthermore, after Shahid and Kareena split up, these rumours became widely circulated. However, the actor addressed and clarified his position regarding these false rumours in one of his earlier interviews. He had stated:

“After me and Kareena broke up, there was a rumour that me and Amrita (Rao) are now suddenly seeing each other. Poor thing, we’ve known each other for four years (at the time) and now, randomly, suddenly we are linked up.”

Shahid continued his revelation by recounting an instance in which he had gone to a movie with a friend and that friend’s family. In the same movie theater, though, Amrita was also there with a different group of people. The actor disclosed how the media fabricated evidence to draw the conclusion that Amrita and Shahid went on a date with the latter’s family.

“Two days later comes the news that me and Amrita have gone to see a film and she’s come to see my family and she’s bonded with my father. I assumed that Amrita was there and was seeing another film. When I spoke to her on the phone the following day, she informed me that she is not even in town. Things like that, when you read stuff like that I (wonder) where do you make this stuff up from?”
