On Tuesday morning Netflix India shared an Instagram post and announced that Heera Mandi will be released on Netflix.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali completed 25 years of Bollywood on Monday. From Ajay Devgan to Deepika Padukone have taken their Instagram and social media handles to pen heartfelt notes for the filmmaker. The official Twitter handle of the filmmaker’s production house shared a video while documenting the amazing journey of the director along with his milestone films.

Heera Mandi is Bhansali’s first-ever web series. The Heera Mandi shoot started immediately at the sets of Gangubai Kathiawadi set, after some modification of the set. This series is produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali production and directed by Vibhu Puri. 

There will be seven episodes in the series. Bhansali will now direct the first episode and the rest 6 episodes will be directed by Vibhu Puri. Heera Mandi is based on the red light area in the walled city of Lahore and focuses on the lives of prostitutes living there.

This period drama is all set to feature the exclusive faces of fame from Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to Deepika Padukone. The rumors on the cast have not been confirmed yet. A source close to the development said, ” Heera Mandi has been Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s dream project for 12 years.”
