He had asked Sridevi, one of the biggest actresses of that time, to play an important role in this film. But for some reason, the actress turned down the offer.

After this, when Indra Kumar bought the remake rights of the Tamil film, he chose Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit for the lead roles. But they turned it down seeing the bloodshed in the film. After this, Indra Kumar contacted his Aruna Irani for this role, she agreed to do it. It became one of the most successful films of her career.

The film earned Rs 23.5 crore at the box office. This film is a remake of the 1987 Tamil film Enga Chinna Rasa directed by Bhagyaraj.
