Bollywood’s power couple, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, have often been at the centre of public attention. While their love story and parenthood journey have garnered admiration, Ranbir has also faced criticism, with some labelling him a “misogynist” and an “unsupportive husband.” However, the actor’s sister, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, recently dismissed these judgments, asserting that the couple remains unaffected by public opinion.
In a conversation with Zoom, Riddhima addressed the backlash faced by her brother. She emphasised that Ranbir and Alia share a deep bond and are exceptional parents to their daughter, Raha. “They adore each other. They’ve created the most beautiful child, Raha. She is so adorable. They are amazing parents. I don’t think they care about what people say,” Riddhima said.
The 44-year-old added that trolls will always find something negative to say, but Ranbir and Alia don’t let such comments affect them. “They’re happy together, and that’s what matters. Judgment from faceless people holds no significance to them,” she stated.
Riddhima also reflected on the couple’s decision to have an intimate wedding at their Mumbai home in 2022. She revealed that their father, the late actor Rishi Kapoor, had two final wishes: to see Ranbir married and to see their family home completed. “It was an emotional moment for us. I wish my father was alive to witness it all,” she said.
According to Riddhima, Ranbir’s choice for a low-key wedding stemmed from a desire for simplicity. “Ranbir and Alia are very simple people. They wanted a small celebration with only those who matter to them. They wanted to enjoy their wedding, and they did,” she explained.
Recalling the joyful atmosphere, Riddhima noted how the couple spent quality time with their guests. “Unlike grand weddings where the bride and groom often forget who attended, Ranbir and Alia had a great time themselves,” she added.
Riddhima also playfully contrasted their celebration with her large wedding, joking about how she struggled to remember attendees. “Ranbir and Alia were beaming with joy and thoroughly enjoyed their day,” she concluded.
The couple welcomed their daughter, Raha, in November 2022, further cementing their bond as a family.
