Actress and filmmaker Kangana Ranaut revealed on Friday that she has received requests from the censor board to make cuts in her film ‘Emergency’, but the suggestions seem quite inappropriate. The actress revealed that her team is adamant about this and refuses to make any changes to the films now. Now Kangana has also reacted to the notice of CBFC and said that the team is determined to maintain the authenticity of the film.

Let us tell you that Kangana has directed, co-produced, and acted in this film, in which she plays the lead role of the late Indira Gandhi. She had earlier accused the censor board of delaying the certification to delay the release of the film. Earlier the film was scheduled to release on September 6. Several media reports said that the revision committee of the censor board ordered 13 cuts in the film and issued it a U/A certificate. These reportedly include adding a disclaimer, deleting certain dialogues and scenes, and providing facts to support historical references in the film.

Their support is encouraging, confirming that we have given the story the respect it deserves. Nevertheless, we are ready to stand by our word and protect the integrity of the film. At the same time ensure that its essence remains intact.’

In fact, ‘Emergency’ has been mired in controversy when Sikh organizations, including the Shiromani Akali Dal, have objected to its release, alleging that the community has been misrepresented in it and historical facts have been misrepresented. The film’s co-producer Zee Entertainment Enterprises has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking a direction to the CBFC to issue a certificate to the film.
