Earning several accolades for the portrayal of challenging roles in movies like ‘OMG 2,’ ‘Mimi’ and ‘Newton,’ actor Pankaj Tripathi has established himself as one of the finest actors in Hindi cinema. Talking about his upcoming project titled ‘Main Atal Hoon’, the reputed actor revealed during an interview that he only ate Khichdi during the film shoot to connect with his character’s emotions.
‘Self-cooked Khichdi’ – New Approach for Role Prep
Essaying the role of late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Pankaj Tripathi followed a strict dietary regimen throughout his 60-day shooting schedule. During the interaction, he said that he would cook a simple meal, that is, khichdi without oil or masalas and used only dal, chawal and veggies. He emphasized that he didn’t let anyone cook for him or order from restaurant because he was very specific about consuming a simple, nutritious Sattvik meal.
Shedding light on the importance of a healthy diet for actors’ physical and emotional growth, he further added, “To get that emotion right, you need to have a sync between the brain and the body. For that, an actor needs to eat light food.”

Directed by Ravi Jadhav, ‘Main Atal Hoon’ is an autobiographical film based on the life of India’s one of the most influential politicians and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Actor Pankaj Tripathi’s first look as Shri Vajpayee was unveiled in 2022 and his new avatar was widely appreciated by his fans and followers. The biopic is scheduled to release in December 2023.
