Veteran actor Dharmendra continues to be the north star for sons Sunny and Bobby Deol, and Sunny isn’t shying away from letting the world know. At the trailer launch of his upcoming film Jaat in Delhi on Monday, Sunny Deol got a little emotional as he opened up about the deep bond he shares with his legendary father.

In a moment that tugged at heartstrings, Sunny referred to Dharmendra as his “only hero” and said his entire outlook on life and acting has been shaped by his father. “Whatever I am today, I have only learnt from my dad. I have always lived with him. He is my only hero,” Sunny said, adding, “I don’t think there is a better actor than him who has played such a variety of characters.”

The actor also reflected on the unpredictable nature of life in the film industry, revealing that both he and his father have seen their fair share of highs and lows. “Ups and downs toh hote rehte hain. I’ve seen it happening with my dad. Mere saath bhi hua hai. Aadmi vo hota hai jo zyada soche na iske baare mein, tabhi vo aage badhta hai,” he said, offering a life mantra straight from the Deol playbook.

The trailer event was not just a promotional affair but a rare moment of heartfelt nostalgia and vulnerability from the famously stoic Sunny Deol. With his upcoming action thriller Jaat set to hit theatres on April 10, the actor seems to be channelling the wisdom passed down by Dharmendra both on and off screen.

The film also stars Randeep Hooda and Vineet Kumar Singh in key roles, and promises an intense cinematic ride packed with action and grit. But if Monday’s event proved anything, it’s that for Sunny Deol, the real heroism lies not in the punches thrown on screen, but in the quiet lessons learnt at home from a father who’s seen it all.
