Veteran singer Udit Narayan recently found himself at the centre of controversy after a video of him kissing female fans during a live concert went viral. The clip sparked backlash on social media, with many users calling his actions inappropriate. Now, in his first public appearance since the controversy, Udit attended the success bash of The Roshans, where paparazzi couldn’t resist taking a dig at the situation.

At the event, Udit was all smiles as he posed for photographers. He even entertained their request by singing his iconic song Papa Kehte Hain. However, as he walked inside, a paparazzo cheekily quipped, “Sir, ek kiss ho jaaye,” taking a jab at the recent incident. The singer, however, ignored the remark and continued walking.
Social media users wasted no time reacting to the video, with Reddit filling up with humorous takes. One user joked, “It’s all fun and games till Udit ji grabs the pap and fulfils his wish.” Another commented, “This is absolute cinema.” A third user quipped, “I almost thought he was going to grab someone on his way out (laughing emoji).”
The Viral Controversy
The uproar began when a video surfaced of Udit kissing a female fan on the lips while she was trying to take a selfie with him. The act drew widespread criticism, with many calling it inappropriate. Addressing the backlash, Udit defended himself in an interview with HT City, calling it an expression of “unconditional love for fans.”
“Fans itne deewane hote hain na. Hum log aise nahi hain, hum decent log hain. Some people encourage this and show their love through this,” he said. He further explained that in the excitement of meeting their idols, fans often extend their hands for a handshake or show affection in different ways. “Uspe itna dhyaan nahi dena chahiye (Such things shouldn’t be given too much attention),” he added.
While the internet continues to debate the incident, Udit Narayan seems unfazed, choosing to let his music—and not the controversy—do the talking.
