The flat rented by late actor Sushant Singh Rajput in Mumbai has been lying vacant for almost three years. However, the NRI owner has found a new tenant. The flat will be rented out soon, according to a new report. Rafique Merchant, a real-estate broker in Mumbai, said he was approached by the owner of the flat a few months ago.
Rafique said that potential tenants were forced to inquire from him as the flat was vacant. The flat will be rented for ₹5 lakh per month. Owners will get a security deposit of ₹30 lakh, equivalent to six months’ rent. On June 14, 2020, the actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in the flat.
Rafique said that they have found somebody (a tenant). They are in the final talks with the family to finalize things. People are relaxed about it (Sushant’s death) because they say it has been a while.
Last month, Rafique talked about finding new tenants. He said that people were scared to move into this flat. When prospective tenants would hear that this is the same apartment where the actor died, they would not even visit the flat. Nowadays, people are visiting the flat as the news of his death has become old.
He said that the deal is not getting finalized. The owner is hell-bent. He doesn’t want to come down on the rent. He added that if the owner wants, it’ll be sold quickly. Since he is selling it at the market price, tenants prefer buying some other flat of a similar size in the same area. It is because it would come without the baggage of controversy that this flat is associated with.
The late actor Sushant Singh Rajput took the flat on the sixth floor in December 2019 for three years. The late actor was sharing the apartment with his roommate and his then girlfriend-actress Rhea Chakraborty.
