Politicians: Masters of Deceit and Denial – A Humorous Take on Political Hypocrisy

People claim that Politics is a corrupt game, but over the last seven to eight years, we have come to see it as more amusing than corrupt. Ironically, our politicians have adopted the practice of making public statements and then outright denying them afterward. Occasionally, they don’t evade (and jest about themselves), and at times they overlook. This can also be referred to as Political Hypocrisy, where they often deceive the public to conceal their true nature and reap political advantages.

One characteristic of democratic leaders is that they deceive their own nations rather than foreign ones. For them, the stakes of security at the international level are greater than at the national level. At times, they employ tactical concealments for their own mistakes. They disregard their own spoken words as if they were insignificant. To instill fear in the public, they deceive so that the people trust in their claims. Occasionally, to foster a sense of patriotism, various nationalistic myths are propagated in different places.

Politicians have always been a matter of joke, if taken seriously (not all but most of them). Being a public figure makes them open to public criticism. There is one saying that goes, “Whatever our souls are made up of, his and mine are the same.” and it totally applies to these politicians. As whatever they are made up of, every single one of them contains the same ingredient and that is the ability to lie, blatantly.

There is one quote by Mark Twain : There are lies and damned lies.
Politicians go for the latter.

  1. Donald TrumpThe President of the USA stated that parents do not have a say in the Gender Affirming Surgeries taking place in schools. This falsehood caused chaos among the parents, yet the reality was entirely different. In reality, all these surgeries (if they occur) are performed only after obtaining the parents’ consent if the children are less than 18 years old. A single foolish remark from the President led to numerous kids being grounded at home. A person at such a position must ensure that he\she never utter anything that could affect their potential future voters.

  1. Barack Obama – The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare is one of the most expensive health insurances in the history of USA’s health insurance policies. But Obama has always praised this policy.
He once said, “Over the last two years, health care premiums have gone up. It’s true but they’ve gone up slower than any time in the last 50 years.”
Problem arose when he mentioned the word premium and not total health care spending. Many economists also said that this policy has led to slow growth in health care spending and ultimately recession. He also exaggerated his health care policy as low cost, but in reality it was the recession and not the law.

  2. Joe Biden- Some people say that Joe Biden has been a liar from the beginning till the end. From the beginning he has shielded his family’s fraud businesses. President Biden not only misled when he asserted he would not grant a pardon to his son, Hunter Biden, but later granted presidential pardon to his son for illegally owning a gun and various other federal tax issues. He claimed how his son was treated differently, which was the reason behind his involvement.

  1. Bill Clinton – Most of us are aware about Mr. Clinton’s affair with his former intern Ms. Lewinsky. When the impeachment process was initiated against him, he denied it but accepted later on as it became too obvious. Today it is widely remembered as the Clinton-Lewinsky’s Sex Scandal.

  1. Narendra Modi- The Prime Minister of India is known for taking credits for the work done by him and also the work not done by him. Recently, at a rally in Karnataka, he mentioned that BJP started the Direct Benefit Transfer scheme. But in reality this scheme was initiated from 01st January 2013, under the former UPA government. He also mentioned in an interview how he won’t be fit for public life, if he differentiates between Hindus and Muslims. Then maybe he is in a very wrong position. Apart from this, his most famous graduation degree in Entire Political Science is the biggest joke of his tenure.

  1. Amit Shah – A businessman turned politician Mr. Shah, usually talks about profit only. He exclaimed how BJP is entitled to large sums of electoral bonds, as it has more MPs to take care of. How is that even valid? We all know how these bonds fund political parties, and this one statement can be living proof to the corrupt practices of BJP.

  1. Mamata Banerjee– Another education liar is the Chief Minister of Bengal, Mrs. Mamata Banerjee. She also once talked about her bogus PhD. degree from University of East Georgia. For a while, she even used the prefix  Dr. before her name, but later when the truth was out, she removed it and never talked about it ever.

  1. Arvind Kejriwal – All of us remember our beloved Ex-Chief Minister’s video where he talked about changing the condition of Delhi roads. His exact words were, “Delhi ki sadkon ko Paris ki sadkein bana dunga. Every single time during monsoon, this video goes viral and becomes a laughing matter for everybody.

  1. Imran Khan – Every single young individual of Pakistan saw a celebrity Prime Minister as their last ray of hope. He inspired them to visualise a Naya Pakistan. He vowed to earn respect from other countries, draw in unmatched investment, generate ten million jobs, and eliminate corruption. He would recover the billions stolen from the nation. He has not managed to keep a single promise. Everything he claimed prior to the elections, he failed to achieve, and now he is labeled as a habitual liar.

  1. Shivraj Singh Chauhan – Sometimes, certain politicians go way beyond their lying capability. In 2017, Mr. Chauhan said that his state Madhya Pradesh, has roads better than that of the United States of America. This is way beyond even the Prime Minister’s imagination.

The journey to make politicians responsible for their deceit is lengthy and may appear infinite. However, once their deceptions stop earning them advantages, they may stop. Well based on the comments given above, (which are definitely more in number) one surely understands that all the politicians are liars. One of the funniest things about these smart politicians is that, when asked about their comments in public, they outrightly deny it as well. Why do you think Mr. Modi has not agreed for any press conference till date?
