Priyanka Chopra Increases Target of Covid-19 Fundraiser and Quotes, “Situation in India Unbelievable, Scary”

Priyanka Chopra spoke with Atul Satija of GiveIndia about the utilities of the fund donated to her for the India campaign. However, she pleads with her fans to donate more, in the dream of serving long-term humanitarian aid for the people affected by Covid-19. Priyanka Chopra, further added that how the fundraiser together for India was started by her and her husband has managed to raise 7.5 crore rupees until now. 

In a video, she stated the facts of how the fund is being utilized for managing the ground reality of India to cope up against the Covid-19 pandemic. She further mentioned that she aims to collect 22 crores of rupees so that the scopes of utility increase. 

The actor also wrote, “It’s been a tumultuous couple of months with so much happening on the ground across India in the battle against Covid 19. The #TogetherForIndia Fundraiser that @nickjonas and I started with our partners @give_india has raised over $1 million (around Rs 7.5 crores) has been put to good use towards procurement of medical equipment like oxygen cylinders and concentrators and vaccination support,” 

She further added, “We know there is a lot left to be done and so we’ve increased our target to $3 million (around Rs. 22 crores),”. “We will now also look towards supporting humanitarian aid programs such as cooked meals and weekly dry rations. Unfortunately, the effects over the past year of the Covid-19 pandemic have pushed over 230 million Indians into poverty and this has had a direct impact on hunger and malnutrition. People are struggling to survive. We can help. I urge you to please donate whatever you can now, because we’re all in this together and unless everyone is safe no one is safe.”

Priyanka and Nick Jonas with their combined effort for the India initiative, have become able to procure 500 oxygen concentrators, 422 oxygen cylinders, and the accumulation of money is being used to support 10 vaccination centres to 6000 people vaccinated.
