Latest updates say that our PeeCee is in talks for joining Don and Krrish franchises. Here is what we know.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas Joining Don 3
The ‘Citadel’ actress is in talks with the team of Don to make a comeback with Don 3. The director Farhan Akhtar is keen to have Priyanka on board.
According to an industry source, ‘The team of Don 3 has indeed approached Priyanka Chopra to revisit her character. In fact, the first few meetings also took place when Priyanka came to India recently for another professional commitment. She used her time in India to align the talks and figure out her next project in the Hindi film industry.’ The news of her comeback is sure a treat to fans.
The source continues to add, ‘Priyanka has a very close bond with Farhan. And is trying to make it work and checking her schedule. Her return might also become a reality as Shah Rukh is no longer associated with the project’.
The statement is an indication of the revival of Don but with another face. Farhan Akhtar has decided to move ahead with Ranveer Singh as Don, instead of Shah Rukh Khan. Now the team of Don is sincerely expecting the ‘Quantico’ actor to revive the role of Roma Bhagat a.k.a Junglee Billi in the sequel.
Is Priyanka Chopra Jonas Joining Krrish 4?
Here is another mega news for PeeCee fans to celebrate. Hrithik Roshan is reviving his franchise Krrish and is reaching out to Priyanka Chopra for Krrish 4.
According to a source from Hindustan Times, ‘He (Hrithik) wants to be super sure about the story for the instalment, as they are revving the story and don’t want to get it wrong.’
Would Preity Zinta be also joining?
‘There is no chance for Preity Zinta to return to the franchise,’ the source adds. ‘but the makers want Priyanka Chopra to revisit the role, and are planning to reach out to her soon to check for her interest. The team is hoping to seal the deal with her.’
Hrithik Roshan is planning to start the shooting in early 2024. Reports say that the shooting might take place outside India. Kangana Ranaut will also be revived in Krrish 4.
The long standing rumors say that the team has also approached Deepika Padukone. For that, we will have to wait to find out.
The Record Breaking Successes of Don and Krrish Franchises
The revival of the 1978 film with the same name, Don was released in 2006. While Shah Rukh khan played Don, Priyanka Chopra had the avatar of Roma Bhagat. First in the series, Don, became an instant hit with US $13 million (Rs.1.06 billion) earning worldwide. Don 2 was a global blockbuster with a total earning of $25 million (Rs.203 crores).
Krrish is the namesake of its main character played by Hrithik Roshan. Priyanka Chopra plays the role of Priya. Krrish was the highest grossing film in 2006, with the net earnings of Rs.127 crores worldwide. Krrish 2 was never made because of the lack of a suitable script. The next sequel in the franchise is Krrish 3. Krrish 3 was made with the budget of US $20 million (Rs.161 crores) and went on to become the 30th highest grossing Indian film with US $84 million (Rs. 669 crores).
