R Madhavan, one of the most admired actors in the Indian film industry, has been entertaining audiences for over two decades with films like Tanu Weds Manu, Vikram Vedha, and Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. Currently promoting his latest release, Hisaab Barabar, the actor recently shared insights into his financial habits, spending tendencies, and upcoming projects.
Madhavan Admits He Doesn’t Track His Finances
During an interview with Rannvijay Singha for Mashable India, Madhavan revealed that he once kept track of his bank balance through his passbook but eventually lost the habit. The actor admitted feeling insecure about his finances, saying, “I really don’t know how much I have and how much I can afford to scrutinise it because I don’t know what will come of it. I have a broad understanding of (how much I have).”
Addressing rumours about his supposed ownership of an expensive yacht, Madhavan clarified that he only has a small boat, just big enough for his family. He also shared that he had always wanted to obtain a captain’s license. Taking advantage of the COVID-19 lockdown, he studied and passed the necessary exams, allowing him to navigate the boat himself.
Wife Calls Him ‘Generous to a Fault’
In a previous interview with Just Too Filmy, Madhavan admitted that his wife, Sarita, often calls him out for his liberal spending habits. According to her, he is too generous with his money and lacks financial discipline.
“My wife thinks I am generous to a fault. And I am a fool. And I don’t know how to handle my money. She thinks I keep giving it away. I think I’m very particular about it, but she says not even from a remote corner. Are you particular about it? I spend what I have. I don’t have worldly possessions; that is the reflection of my stardom. But I do have the liberty that this stardom offers me, and I enjoy it,” he shared.
Madhavan’s Busy Work Schedule
On the professional front, Madhavan was last seen in the horror thriller Shaitaan, alongside Ajay Devgn and Jyotika, earning widespread appreciation for his performance. He is currently promoting Hisaab Barabar, a film that revolves around financial discrepancies leading to a corruption scandal.
Looking ahead, the actor has a packed schedule with multiple projects, including Adhirshtasaali, Amriki Pandit, De De Pyaar De 2, and an untitled film with Akshay Kumar.
