The year 2022 has been very bad for Bollywood in many ways. Since the beginning of the year, Hindi films have been boycotted continuously on social media. South actor Vijay Deverakonda made his debut in Bollywood through Liger, one of these Bollywood films. However, his debut proved to be a failure as his film also proved to be a flop at the box office due to the boycott trend. Now the statement of famous filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has come out on this film of Vijay.
Talking about the film, Varma gave a big reason for its flop. Not only this, he also targeted actor Vijay Deverakonda during this time. According to media reports, Ram Gopal Varma believes that the film had to see this result due to Vijay Deverakonda’s aggressive statements during the promotion of the film. He also told that his film did not get much love from the audience due to Vijay’s arrogant behavior. Not only this, Verma compared Vijay to other South artists and said that he lacks humility like South artists.
Ram Gopal Varma also said that Vijay Deverakonda could not impress the Hindi audience like other South superstars like Prabhas, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun and Jr NTR. Apart from this, since the death of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the films of filmmaker Karan Johar are being boycotted on social media. In such a situation, due to these reasons, Vijay Deverakonda’s film Liger proved to be a failure at the box office.
Talking about the film, the film Liger, which released in theaters on August 25, proved to be a disaster at the box office. The Vijay Devarakonda and Ananya Panday starrer did not perform as expected. Due to the weak story, this film did not make much impact on the audience. Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the film also featured Ramya Krishnan and Mike Tyson. Made at a cost of Rs 160 crore, this film could do business of only 36 crores at the box office.
