Actress Kriti Sanon and film director Om Raut have been receiving criticism for their farewell kiss in the Tirupati temple, which lead to a stirring controversy. In response to the outcry on social media, Dipika Chikhlia, who played Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s television series Ramayan, has stated his views on the same. Kriti, who plays Janaki in her upcoming thriller, Adipurush, was condemned by Dipika, who claimed that she would never have imagined herself as Sita and would have just consider it as an acting role.
Dipika Reveals Her Time Spent On The Ramayan Sets
Ramayan star, Sita aka Dipika Chikhlia recounted her time spent on the Ramayan sets in a recent media interview. Dipika revealed,
“On the set, nobody dared to use our names. Many individuals would approach us on the set while we were playing our parts and touch our feet. The times were different. They didn’t view us as performers back then; rather, they viewed us as gods. I couldn’t even hug anyone, kissing someone on the sets was an absolute far cry.”
Dipika Criticized Kriti For Her Role in ‘Adipurush’
She continued to criticize Kriti by stating, “Kriti is an actress from a modern contemporary generation. Today, giving someone a hug or a kiss is regarded as a kind gesture. Kriti would not have identified herself as Sita Ji. It turns into an emotional issue. I have lived the Sita persona, whereas modern actresses only see it as a performance. After the movie or project is finished, people lose interest. She claimed that Adipurush performers can forget their roles as they go on to other productions. However, that has never happened to us. We were treated as though we were gods living on Earth who had descended from above. Because of this, we have never done anything to offend anyone, she continued.
Netizens Reacted After Om Raut Kissed Kriti Sanon Outside A Tirupati Temple
Adipurush actress Kriti Sanon and director Om Raut were photographed on June 7, 2023, in front of the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple. Om Raut could be seen kissing Kriti on the cheeks as they said goodbye in the images that have been doing the rounds on social media. However, a situation like that caused a stir online and sparked a debate.
As soon as the images gained popularity, internet users began to flood the comments sections. The incident was dubbed shameless by several users. Ramesh Naidu, the state secretary for the BJP, too spoke out against the controversy and questioned whether it was essential. He later discarded the comment, though.
Ramesh Naidu posted his comment tagging Kriti Sanon and Om Raut which could be read as, ‘Is it necessary to bring your antics to a sacred place?’ Another user penned, ‘Shameless fellow. Worst behavior @omraut.’
