Officials summon Ranbir Kapoor to know the intricacies of the scam

A recent report from News18 states that Bollywood actor, Ranbir Kapoor has been summoned by the officials to gain more insights about the Mahadev money-laundering case. He has not called as an accused, but rather to understand who gave him the money to promote the betting app.

Additionally, the ED has asked Ranbir Kapoor to mark his presence at the agency’s office in Raipur, Chhattisgarh on October 6. Several other A-list actors from the industry are also under ED’s scrutinization in the case. If reports are to be believed, officials are expected to call these suspects as well.

About Mahadev online betting case

The investigating officials carried out the research in cities such as Kolkata, Bhopal and Mumbai about the money laundering involved with the Mahadev Online Book App. For the unversed, the Mahadev Online book app is a betting platform headquartered in the UAE. The ED sources revealed:

“Chandrakar and MOB platform’s other promoter Ravi Uppal have created an empire for themselves in the UAE. They openly flaunt sudden and illegal riches.

People involved in the case have spent almost Rs. 200 crore on the wedding and the officials are trying to find out the cash flow trail.

Bollywood celebrities reportedly involved in the betting case

A source close to the case informed that other B-town celebrities including, Shraddha Kapoor, Tiger Shroff and Sonakshi Sinha are also under suspicion. Reportedly, they were spotted attending Chandrakar’s wedding in February 2023. The celebrities also attended the company’s success party bash in September 2022. The source further stated:

“The celebrities accepted a huge amount of cash as remuneration for attending or performing at the wedding. The money is proceeds of the crime and the celebrities are liable for taking the money. There are more than a dozen celebrities who participated in the wedding and they are seen in the videos.”

According to the viral reports, the celebrities received Rs. 40 crore from the promoters of the betting platform. They paid the money to the stars after they attended a party at a seven-star luxury hotel in Dubai on September 18, 2023.
