Ranbir Kapoor’s Old Video Saying He Avoids Misogynistic Films Goes Viral; Netizens React!

The latest release of Bollywood ‘Animal’ is grabbing a lot of eyeballs for its controversial portrayal of protagonist. However, the Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film is earning big bucks at the ticket windows due to the performances delivered by its actors Ranbir Kapoor and Bobby Deol. In addition to this, the movie is getting dubbed as a cinematic gem because of how it has been helmed by the director.

Despite the craze it has created, ‘Animal’ is getting bashed by a certain section of audiences because if how women have been treated in the film. They are of the opinion that ‘Animal’ is an unabashed ode to toxic masculinity which is the foundation of patriarchy. Many of the scenes from the movie have left viewers fuming with anger. Now, an old video of Ranbir Kapoor has surfaced wherein he is sharing his views on being part of misogynistic films and it is something completely contrary to what he has done in ‘Animal’.

In the video which is going increasingly viral, Ranbir Kapoor is having a conversation with renowned journalist Anupama Chopra. She questions him about doing a Luv Ranjan film who is famous for portraying women as the root cause of every problem in men’s lives. To this, Ranbir says that he is conscious about the content he chooses and his part in a project. Reasoning the same, the actor shares that he comes from a certain value system which would not allow him to do films that portray women in a condescending manner.

The clip left social media users in splits as they feel ‘Animal’ has essayed women in the worst possible way in the history of Indian cinema . All these fucking films are problematic and movies have huge impact on the society and should be responsible! Yeh conscious nahi unconscious tha for sure when he acted in Animal Dot!”

For the unknown, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’ has scenes where Ranbir Kapoor’s character Ranvijay Singh chokes his wife, Geethanjali played by Rashmika Mandanna. In another frame, he asks Tripti Dimri aka Zoya to lick his boots.
