Ratna Pathak Shah shared her opinion about Naseeruddin Shah

There are always traits or habits about your spouse that you either come to love or tolerate after more than 40 years of marriage. Ratna Pathak Shah gave an intriguing response when a similar question about what one thing about him she loves, hates, and tolerates was posed to her. Ratna Pathak Shah was cited as stating:

“Love… his deep involvement with acting. I can love, hate and tolerate all three in that. Largely love, because it is a very special feature. Naseer really cannot be bothered with anything except the performance and working towards the performance. It’s an attitude that I have not seen in others.”

Ratna Pathak Shah is happy with this ‘one change’ in film culture

Ratna Pathak Shah made her acting debut in the highly regarded movie Mandi (1983). The film was directed by filmmaker Shyam Bengal. She has since performed as a variety of characters, showcasing her acting talent. One of the few actors still active in the business from the 1970s onward is hers. She was therefore questioned about what she thought had changed in the film industry over the years. The actress recalled her experience and said:

“Much more professionalism, much less hierarchy. That’s one thing that I am very happy with. There’s less hierarchy visible on a set. Crew and cast are not two completely watertight compartments anymore. There’s much crossover.”

Ratna Pathak Shah reveals not having worked for over one year

Social media now plays a major role in the film industry that it did not have in the past. The Kapoor & Sons actress believes that rather than an actor’s skill, employment in the film industry these days is determined by the actor’s social media following. Thus, one of the reasons for it, according to Ratna Pathak Shah—who does not use Instagram—was that she was unemployed. Ratna expressed her viewpoint by saying:

“Depending on the number of followers, people are getting work today. That is what I have heard. Nobody approached me for work because I am not on Instagram, so maybe that could be a reason. I have been completely unemployed for a whole year now. So these are the kind of things that do seem to matter a lot.”
