The 74th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, held Monday night at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, saw the convergence of style and talent under one roof, with television’s biggest stars embracing unabashed opulence on the red carpet.
Stars brought the glitz to TV’s biggest night. Here are the looks from 2022 Emmys that sparked a social-media frenzy from the moment the red carpet opened:
Zendaya
Zendaya, the Euphoria winner for lead actress and her style architect, put together another flawless look, a strapless silk gown with bow belt by Maison Valentino, paired with jewels by Bulgari, including the piece that dominated the night’s jewellery trends: a diamond choker.
Amanda Seyfried
On the red carpet, the winner for her role as Elizabeth Holmes in Hulu’s The Dropout noted that she felt like a mermaid in this shimmering blush pink strapless gown with a crinoline necklace, this mesh dress is by Giorgio Armani Privé, Seyfried completed her look with Cartier diamond and platinum jewels.
Sydney Sweeney
With this lovely and restrained Oscar de la Renta gown that evoked old Hollywood screen sirens of yore, the double nominee for both Euphoria and The White Lotus went for classic elegance. We do wish she had worn her hair up with it.
Elle Fanning
Elle wore a custom blush pink and black ensemble beautifully curated by costume designer Sharon Long. In this full-length satin gown with a structured bodice and floral applique gracefully spread to adorn the sweetheart neckline, she looked like a doll. Accessorized with a single ring, a two-tiered necklace, and black platform peep-toe heels.
Selena Gomez
The Only Murders in the Building star looked stunning in a Celine gown. Her all-white ensemble was enlivened by a pop of green. Selena’s evening look, which included a partially body-hugging and see-through outfit with a halter-neck back tie-up detail. Crystal embellishments and a minimal showing of her bare back contributed to its eye-catching appeal. Her look was at its most alluring with metallic silver platform stilettos and eye-catching green beaded tassel drop earrings and a ring.
Andrew Garfield
The best lead actor nominee for Under the Banner of Heaven once again sparked a Twitter frenzy with his arrival in a white jacquard silk and mohair jacket with satin peak lapels, tonal wool mohair trousers, and a cotton and silk dress shirt by Zegna Made-to-Measure, all paired with an Omega watch.
Lily James
Metallic gowns were a major trend on the red carpet at the Emmys, beginning with James, who was nominated for outstanding lead actress in a limited or anthology series or film. The Pam & Tommy actress wore a draped bronze metallic-mesh ruched gown by Atelier Versace, which she accessorised with diamonds from De Beers Jewellers.
Jung Ho-Yeon
The former model and Squid Game star kept things chic and low-key, if a beaded Louis Vuitton gown can be called “low-key.” Sparkly, yes, but we like the design’s subtle elegance. The hair flower is a fun addition.
Lizzo
In this bold red gown with angel wing sleeves and an exuberant train, the “About Damn Time” singer and star of Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Girls was a vision of gorgeous confidence.
She looks stunning in red, the proportions of the design are perfect, and the overall effect is celebratory.
