Of course, it won’t be as beneficial as exercise but who cares when one is getting both fitness and fun in single activity?

Now here is the interesting point. You guys need to know how many calories are actually burnt during this time. According to a study, generally, couples lovemaking session takes around 20 minutes. While sexual intercourse can last between 5.4 minutes and nine minutes. So according to a study by ‘Energy Expenditure during Sexual Activity in Young Healthy Couples’ in 2013, US researchers showed that energy expenditure during sexual activity amounts to around 85 calories. It is approx the amount one spends in walking at a moderate speed for about 20-25 minutes. The study also concluded that “sex may potentially be considered, at times, as a significant exercise,” and obviously, it is more enjoyable than 30 minutes.

Sex is also really beneficial for your health. According to Dr Kedar Tilwe, psychiatrist and sexologist, SL Raheja Hospital, Mumbai, a bio-physiological process, sex has definite health benefits, such as improved cardiovascular response, lowered blood pressure, and a boost in immunity levels. He also says that “Even the mental wellness of a person improves due to the involvement of neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and oxytocin,”

Offcourse sex is way more pleasurable than the routine exercise, it also brings you closer to your partner. It also gives you a feeling of security with emotional ability. In fact, a study shows that when a group of men and women was asked to compare the two activities, namely sex and exercise, all the men and 95 per cent of the women agreed that sex was a far more pleasurable activity than sweating it out at the gym. Love hormone is said to play an important role in sex and relationship-building. Needless to say, the more you enjoy sex with your partner, the better it will be for your relationship.
