The match between the rival countries India and Pakistan is no less than a festival for both nations. Every Indian and Pakistani gets glued to their TV screens whenever the two teams compete against each other.

Yesterday, when India and Pakistan set out to play against each other in the ongoing T20 World cup, Indians had high hopes from the cricketers of the country. But to their bad luck, the start of the game was the worst possible nightmare. The Indian team lost their opener, Rohit Sharma for a duck. Sharma was wrapped on his pads off the very first ball he faced. Shaheen Afridi trapped him plumb in front and the umpire raised his finger. The ball curled back in sharply and Rohit was caught napping. On the other hand, it became a dream start for Pakistan.

Soon after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal, social media got flooded with memes that trolled Sharma left and right. Here’s a look at some of the reactions on Twitter:

In the beginning, Pakistan won the toss and opted to field. During the toss, Indian skipper Virat Kohli called the match a big game for them. He said that they’ll treat it very professionally. “The message is absolutely simple and clear. I know it’s a big game for everyone around the world very keenly. Fans add a great atmosphere and vibe. As players, we need to disconnect from that a little bit. Use that as a motivation and not get overawed by it and hold onto the emotional side of things. We need to be absolutely professional and that’s something we have done well over the years,” Kohli was quoted as saying.

For the unversed, India lost the match to Pakistan. The name which shined in this cricket face-off is Shaheen Afridi. He not only took all-important wickets of openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul but also became the first Pakistani bowler to dismiss Virat Kohli in a T20 World cup.
