Rohit Shetty’s OTT Debut: Golmaal Director Talks His Heart Out On New Series ‘Indian Police Force’

Rohit Shetty is making headlines with his OTT directorial debut, ‘Indian Police Force’. In a podcast with Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachiyaa, Singham’s director revealed that the Indian police force does not use abusive words until and unless it is needed for the characters.

The importance of family-friendly films

“Other than that, no sex, no vulgarity. Our Indian culture is different. We still have a lot of respect, and we are known for that. Those who are making it are not doing anything wrong, but mujhe apni core audience ko uncomfortable nahi karna hai,” Rohit said.

Talking about the importance of family-friendly films, Rohit shared an incident at the airport when a lady came to him and thanked him for Chennai Express. She revealed that whenever she is busy during the day, she uses Chennai Express to keep her two-and-a-half year-old daughter busy.

Worried about Tushar Kapoor’s character

Rohit Shetty also opened up about how he zeroed in on the cast of Golmaal, which included Ajay Devgn, Sharman Joshi, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Rimi Sen, and Paresh Rawal, among others.

Rohit Shetty never expected that Golmaal would become such a cult film. He further revealed that he had Ajay and Sharman Joshi on the board, but they couldn’t find anyone for Arshad Warsi’s character. Then they narrated the script to Arshad at night, and within a couple of days, Arshad was in Goa for the film.

A similar thing happened with Tushaar Kapoor. Rohit asked him, ‘There’s no dialogue. Will you manage?’ Tusshar replied with a yes. And later, the Tusshar character also became a cult. Rohit admitted that he was scared about that character since there was no dialogue.
