Rupali Ganguly Breaks Silence On Step-Daughter Esha’s Accusations: ‘It Hurts’
Rupali Ganguly, known for her iconic role in Anupamaa, recently became embroiled in a public controversy after her step-daughter, Esha Verma, accused her of breaking her parents’ marriage. The allegations, which resurfaced on social media, have sparked widespread attention. In a new interview, Rupali has addressed the personal turmoil, expressing her emotional response to the public scrutiny.
Speaking to Instant Bollywood, Rupali shared, “If I tell you that these things don’t affect me, then I’d be lying. Of course, such things affect us. We are humans, after all. It hurts when someone passes even a tiny comment behind our back.” Despite this, she remained philosophical, adding, “The ones who love me will continue doing so. Keep doing good deeds, and good things will happen to you today or in the future. Everyone goes through rough phases, bad things do happen, but eventually, the truth always wins.”
The controversy began when a 2020 post by Esha resurfaced online, accusing Rupali of playing a role in the breakdown of her mother’s marriage to Ashwin K. Esha claimed that Rupali had even threatened her and her mother. In a revealing interview, Esha detailed the alleged abuse, saying, “Rupali was the one who came to my house in New Jersey and slept on my mother’s bed—the bed that my father and mother shared. She has done so much—physically, mentally, verbally, and emotionally abusing me and my mom. I feel like that was a lot of trauma I had to deal with.”
In response, Rupali issued a ₹50 crore defamation notice to Esha, accusing her of tarnishing her reputation, violating her dignity, and causing substantial financial damage. The legal move was followed by Esha removing all posts related to Rupali from her social media and making her Instagram account private.
The dispute between the two has drawn significant media attention, with Rupali maintaining a composed stance, emphasizing that the truth will ultimately prevail, despite the emotional toll such accusations have caused.
