Bollywood star Salman Khan has received yet another chilling death threat. On Monday morning, the Mumbai Traffic Police’s WhatsApp helpline was sent a message threatening to kill the actor by entering his residence and blowing up his car with a bomb. According to reports, the police swiftly registered a case and have launched an investigation into the matter.
This is not the first time Salman Khan has been targeted. Over the past two years, the actor and his family — including veteran screenwriter and father Salim Khan — have been repeatedly threatened. In a significant security scare last year, Mumbai Police uncovered a plot to assassinate Salman at his Panvel farmhouse. Shooters reportedly linked to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s network were allegedly keeping tabs on the actor’s movements with the intention of carrying out the plan.
The ongoing threats have a disturbing origin. Lawrence Bishnoi has publicly expressed animosity toward Salman Khan, stemming from the decades-old blackbuck poaching case involving the actor. Blackbucks are considered sacred in the Bishnoi community, and Bishnoi has stated that unless Salman travels to Rajasthan and offers an apology for “killing a blackbuck,” he will face dire consequences. While these threats continue, it is worth noting that courts have dismissed the blackbuck poaching charges against Salman.
Despite these concerns, Salman has continued his professional commitments. He was last seen in Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss, which marked the filmmaker’s Bollywood return. Released during Eid, the film opened with much fanfare but has underperformed by Salman’s blockbuster standards. With a global collection just above ₹200 crore and ₹109 crore in India, Sikandar appears to be slowing at the box office and is projected to fall short of the ₹250 crore mark — a figure that might disappoint both fans and producers.
While the police investigation into the latest threat continues, the growing frequency of these incidents has once again raised serious concerns about celebrity security in India, especially for high-profile stars like Salman Khan.
