Bollywood superstar Salman Khan recently shared a harrowing experience from a flight he took with fellow actor Sonakshi Sinha and his younger brother Sohail Khan. The actor opened up about the terrifying 45-minute-long turbulence that left passengers, including the crew, visibly shaken.
The incident occurred while the trio was traveling back from an awards show in Sri Lanka. Salman Khan recounted the terrifying moments during his debut podcast appearance on his nephew Arhaan Khan’s YouTube channel, Dumb Biryani. The actor described how the flight initially started normally, but turbulence soon turned into an unnerving ordeal. “At first, it seemed like a normal bout of turbulence, but then the noise intensified, and the entire flight went silent,” Salman explained.
He revealed that despite the escalating chaos, his brother Sohail remained unfazed, continuing to sleep through the ordeal. However, things took a more alarming turn when even the flight attendants seemed to be rattled. “I looked at the air hostess, and she was praying,” Salman recalled. “That’s when I thought, Arey baap re! Even the pilots looked tense, they usually are very chilled.”
The situation escalated further when oxygen masks dropped, a moment Salman described as eerily cinematic, recalling that he had only ever seen such scenes in movies. “I’ve only seen this happen in films!” he said, expressing the gravity of the situation.
For 45 minutes, the flight endured violent turbulence, causing widespread panic among the passengers. After the turbulence subsided, there was a brief calm before another 10-minute spell of turbulence shook the cabin. Salman humorously noted how the mood in the cabin quickly changed, with no one speaking a word until the plane finally landed safely. “Sonakshi and her mother were also on board, but once that second round of turbulence hit, everything became quiet. From that moment until we landed, nobody said a word. But the moment we touched down, everyone suddenly became a stud. Their walk changed,” he recalled with a laugh.
The dramatic incident highlights the unpredictability and terror that extreme weather conditions can bring to air travel. On the professional front, Salman Khan is currently busy filming his highly anticipated action drama Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss. The movie features a star-studded cast, including Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, and Prateik Babbar.
