‘Samantha Left Him Depressed’: Nagarjuna Claims How Naga Chaitanya’s Divorce Affected Son Chay, Family

Actor Naga Chaitanya, who married Samantha Ruth Prabhu in 2017 after years of dating, went through a highly publicised separation in 2021. Their divorce was far from easy, especially for Chaitanya, as revealed by his father, veteran actor Nagarjuna, in a recent interview.

Speaking to Times Now, Nagarjuna shared that Chaitanya’s divorce deeply affectedoʻhim and the entire family. “Chay has found happiness again. He is very happy, and so am I! It has not been an easy time for Chay or the family. The separation from Samantha left him very depressed. My boy doesn’t show his feelings to anyone. But I knew he was unhappy,” he said. However, seeing his son smile again with Sobhita Dhulipala, whom he is set to marry soon, has been heartwarming for the family.

Despite the divorce, Nagarjuna confirmed that his bond with Samantha remains unchanged. “That remains unaltered. What happens between a couple is an entirely different matter,” he clarified.

Naga Chaitanya on His Divorce and Moving On

Even after three years, Naga Chaitanya and Samantha often find themselves answering questions about their separation. Addressing the topic of Raw Talks With VK, Chaitanya stated that the decision to part ways was mutual and made with deep thought.

“It was for the betterment of whoever was involved in the marriage. Whatever the decision was, it was a very conscious one after much thought and with a lot of respect for the other person. I’m saying this because it’s a very sensitive topic for me. I come from a broken family. I’m a child from a broken family, so I know what the experience is like. I will think 1000 times before breaking a relationship because I know the repercussions. It was a mutual decision,” he said.

Chaitanya also hinted that both he and Samantha have moved on in life with grace. His statement comes amid reports of Samantha’s rumoured relationship with Citadel: Honey Bunny director Raj Nidimoru. While he refrained from making direct comments, his words suggested that both have found happiness in their respective paths.
