Samantha Ruth Prabhu Demands Sexual Harassment Report In Telugu Industry From Telangana Government

There has been an uproar since the Justice Hema Committee report on the exploitation and harassment of women in the Malayalam film industry. After the shocking revelations in the report, many female artists have vocally lodged their complaints and also talked about the harassment they faced. After this case, Samantha Ruth Prabhu has also requested the Telangana government to release a similar report on sexual harassment in the industry.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu shared a note from the Women in Cinema Collective on her Instagram story and demanded the release of a report on sexual harassment in the Telugu industry. According to the note, ‘The women of the Telugu film industry welcome the report of the Justice Hema Committee and also appreciate the efforts made by the WCC in Kerala.’

It further said, ‘Thanks to the continuous efforts of the WCC, shocking revelations have been made in the Justice Hema Committee report. Along the same lines, a support group called The Voice of Women was set up in the year 2019 for women working in the Telugu film industry. The same group has now urged the Telangana government to publish the report of the sub-committee on sexual harassment in Tollywood.’

After the Justice Hema Committee report came out, a case was registered against one of the famous directors Ranjit. Others include Mukesh, Siddiqui, Maniyanpilla Raju, Idavela Babu, and Jayasurya, against whom FIRs have been registered. It is known that this committee was formed in the year 2017 after Dilip attacked an actress.
