While many assumed it was due to the mental health troubles she was experiencing following her breakup with Justin Bieber.

Selena and Justin rekindled their romance in 2018. The Only Murders In The Building actress was fresh off her relationship with The Weekend, whom many thought was more of a rebound. They married soon after, and the entire situation stunned their shippers for quite some time.

Selena Gomez opened up on why she handed her Instagram account to her assistant following a breakup and how she felt about people’s thoughts on social media.

The Rare singer recently spoke with the magazine and gave her thoughts on everything from Instagram to Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter to her advise to young people just starting out in show biz.

She explained, “After a breakup, I did not want to read any feedback not necessarily about the relationship, but about the opinions I had against someone else. There might be thousands of extremely great remarks, but my mind jumps right to the nasty one.”

Selena also stated that while she did not mind people calling her ‘ugly’ or ‘stupid,’ they tended to become quite ‘detailed’. “They write such detailed and harsh paragraphs. I’d be sobbing all the time. I was frequently anxious… I couldn’t take it any longer. “It was a complete waste of my time,” she said.

Selena admitted that the only social media app she has on her phone is TikTok because she finds it ‘a bit less aggressive’.

The singer also said that she posts the things she does for her assistance. The Only Murders in the Building star also said that she has a screening mechanism in place where her staff gathers a few encouraging remarks.
