Kalki Koechlin is celebrating her 38th birthday today i.e. on 10 January 2022. She received much appreciation from her very first film, Dev D. Since then, she played excellent characters in many renowned films. However, there are many things about Kalki that only a few people know.

Kalki’s parents were originally from France who settled in Pondicherry, India. Her father is an engineer and runs a business of light aeroplanes near Ooty in Tamil Nadu. Kalki’s grandfather was also an engineer, who played an important role in building the famous Eiffel Tower in France. She did her schooling at Ooty’s Hebron School. Following that, she went to London to learn acting and theatre.

Kalki’s very first film fetched her the Filmfare Award. However, the director of Dev D, Anurag Kashyap, did not want to cast Kalki in the film due to her exotic looks. But when Anurag saw Kalki’s audition, he signed her for the film immediately. After this movie, Kalki worked in ‘That Girl in Yellow Boots’, ‘Shaitan’, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, ‘Shanghai’, ‘Ek Thi Daayan’, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, ‘Margarita with a Straw’ and ‘Waiting’. She had also worked in films like ‘A Death in the Ganj’, ‘Ribbon’ and ‘Gully Boy’.

In an interview, Kalki opened up her heart and told that she was sexually abused at the age of 9. However, she did not mention this to anyone at that time. Kalki’s parents got divorced when was only 15 years old and she started living with her mother.

Kalki and Anurag Kashyap fell in love during the shooting of the film ‘Dev D’. In the year 2011, both of them got married. However, this marriage of Kalki and Anurag did not last long. And after two years, both of them started living separately and later both of them got divorced. After this, Kalki fell in love with an Israeli-born painter, Guy Hershberg. Both were living together and later in 2020, Kalki gave birth to her daughter without a marriage.
