Supriya Pathak known for her role as Hansa Parekh in the show, Khichdi, is one of the most versatile actresses of Bollywood and the TV industry. Supriya had met Pankaj Kapur, father of actor Shahid Kapoor on the set of their unreleased movie, Agla Mausam. When these two super talented individuals had met, they were healing from their respective failed marriages. It was this common thing between them that brought them closer to each other. Supriya and Pankaj had tied the knot in 1988. The duo had welcomed their kids Sanah Kapur in 1990 and Ruhan Kapoor in 1994.
Supriya is not like the conventional stepmother we see on the screen. Soon after her marriage to Pankaj Kapur she had become a mother to Pankaj and Neelima Azeem’s son, Shahid Kapoor as well. The two share a great bond and not only that, even Shahid is a doting stepbrother to Supriya and Pankaj Kapur’s children.
Supriya in an interview with The Indian Express had talked about her stepson, Shahid Kapoor’s bond with her kids, Sanah and Ruhaan. She said, “Of course! Shahid is their brother. He is their elder brother bhai! He is an integral part of the family. He is our main anchor. It is natural. They are siblings. So, they are constantly around each other. They are like any other siblings. We are a normal family.”
Supriya also had talked about her daughter-in-law, Mira Rajpur Kapoor, and revealed how good Mira cooks. Supriya said, “She is a great cook. She makes lovely appam and stew and Khao Suey. So yes, I have tasted her haath ka khaana (food she made). But sadly, I don’t know how to click photos and I do not have an Instagram profile, so I cannot share with you guys. But she makes amazing food.”
Mira on the other hand is a fan of Supriya’s iconic character Hansa. She often uses her quotes from Khichdi. A few days back, Mira had cracked a Khichdi joke for the food made by her Saasu maa. Sharing a picture of a mouth-watering Gujarati thali made by Supriya, Mira had written, “Not-a-Khichdi by Hansa” and “Saras Gujju thali, Supriya ben”, leaving us in love with this saas-bahu bond.
Supriya’s father was Baldev Pathak and her mother was a veteran actress, Dina Pathak. Supriya made her career into acting through theatre. Supriya won her first Filmfare award for supporting actress in her debut film, Kalyug. Not many people are familiar with the news that Supriya had shared the screen with Hugh Grant for a French Film. La Nuit Bengali (The Bengali Night) was released in 1988.
