Shahid Kapoor Reveals He Fought Over Wearing Specs In ‘Jab We Met’; ‘Hero Glasses Thodi…’

Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor has multiple hits to his credit. He has given stellar performances in many roles. However, one character of the actor which will be forever engraved in the hearts of the audience is of ‘Aditya’ from ‘Jab We Met’.

Shahid starred opposite his the-then girlfriend Kareena Kapoor in the iconic film and the magical duo went on to create a strong fanbase for it. In a recent interview with Film Companion, the actor recalled how he fought with everyone to let him wear glasses for the role of ‘Aditya’.

Shahid Kapoor fought to wear glasses in ‘Jab We Met’

Sharing the unheard anecdote from the shoot of ‘Jab We Met’, Shahid said that he told everyone on the set that he wants to wear specs. People asked him if he is mad because according to them hero could not wear glasses. He stated, “I fought with everybody. I was like, ‘I want to wear glasses for this,’ and everybody said, ‘Are you mad?’ Hero glasses thodi pehenta hai? Tu gaana kaise gayega?”

Further in the conversation, Shahid revealed the reason behind him wanting to wear glasses in ‘Jab We Met’. He said that he wanted people to see him in a different way because otherwise, he was always looking the same in each of his film. Soon after Jab We Met’, the actor began making bigger physical changes. He quoted, “It kind of empowered me to make more decisions. Like Kaminey was my first complete transition from what people were used to seeing me – usually clean-shaven and very boyish.”

Shahid also opened up on not getting cast in films despite giving a hit debut. He told that people would tell him that they write films for men, not for boys like him.

For the unversed, Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Jab We Met’ is reportedly getting a sequel. It will supposedly be produced under the Gandhar Films banner by Raj Mehta.
