‘Sharab Ki Aadat…’, Johnny Lever Recalls Dropping Out of School Early; Story Inside!

Comedian-actor Johnny Lever is brilliant in every role that he takes up. His comic timing is unmatched. Johnny can make even a crying person laugh with his excellent performances. But making a big name in the industry was no cakewalk for the actor. He had to struggle a lot to reach where he is today. In a recent interview with a leading daily, Johnny opened up on leaving school in the middle of his studies due to financial constraints. He told that his father was addicted to alcohol and due to lack of money, he had to drop out of his school in class 7.

‘Father was addicted to alcohol’

During the conversation, Johnny said, ‘There was a lot of poverty in our house. My father had a habit of consuming alcohol. Because of his addiction, he did not pay attention to us. We used to take money from our uncle for fees and ration. I got frustrated with it. I thought why to ask for money again and again. After that I left school. But I used to get a lot of love in school. I used to copy everyone.

Johnny used to copy teachers in school

Johnny Lever further said, ‘I used to copy teachers. My class teacher was very loving. She is in America now. I am still in touch with her. When I left school, she sent children to call me and said that she will pay my fees till whenever I want to study.

Johnny’s film career

Johnny Lever was last seen in the Gujarati comedy Jaysuk Zdpayo and Rohit Shetty’s family entertainer Cirkus. He has been part of over 300 Hindi films. Before tasting fame in Bollywood, Johnny used to do stand-ups and mimicry in live shows. He has lifted Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Comic Role twice for Deewana Mastana and Dulhe Raja.
