Sharad Kelkar reveals Deepika Padukone danced for 11 days with an injury

Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, featured a negative role portrayed by Sharad Kelkar. The director, who is renowned for his artistic vision, pays great attention to details. Sharad disclosed that, in spite of her injuries, Deepika Padukone, who portrayed the movie’s lead female character, had to film a dance scene. Giving the specifics of the incident, Sharad stated: “Deepika was dancing barefoot with full bruises on her feet. Full tape bandh ke usne 11 din shoot kiya pain me.”

Sharad shared that Deepika helped him shoot for a dance scene after his knee surgery

The Ram-Leela featured a garba dance routine by Sharad Kelkar. The actor had, however, previously had knee surgery. It was therefore challenging for him to perform the steps correctly. Deepika Padukone stayed behind to assist him in learning and performing the steps at that moment. Sharad was cited as saying, remembering Deepika’s kind gesture:

“I had a knee surgery at that time and we were shooting for the song – Lahu muh lag gaya. I had to do the Garba while sitting. My physio told me, ‘You can’t sit because you just had a surgery, you can’t bend below 90 degrees.’ I was unable to do it. Because of pain due to surgery, I couldn’t do it. But I remember when I went blank and couldn’t remember the steps for the song. It was lunchtime, and Deepika stayed back, and she taught me. She said, ‘You can do it. I’ll teach you.’ Somehow I managed to do it and she was damn sweet.’”

Sharad Kelkar is keen on exploring different kinds of roles

Sharad Kelkar is an actor, but he has also had success doing voiceover work, lending his voice to some of the most identifiable characters. Most people know him from the Baahubali series, where he voiced Prabhas. The actor discussed how he strikes a balance between the two roles in a different conversation. He expressed:

“I dub well but that doesn’t mean that I’ll do a certain type of role that requires a good voice. I am an actor first, I can perform and when it comes to my voice I can take it to any dimension. But, fortunately, in the last two years a lot of people have shown trust in me. I try to do different kinds of roles so that I am not stuck being typecast. I am waiting for the good times, the best to come.”
