A man was apprehended by the police after he illegally entered a film set where Bollywood actor Salman Khan was shooting in Mumbai’s Dadar area on Wednesday. According to police sources, the man’s actions raised suspicion among those present at the venue. When questioned about his intentions, he allegedly responded, “Bishnoi ko bulau kya?” (Should I call Lawrence Bishnoi?), referring to the infamous gangster linked to multiple criminal activities.
The incident took place while Salman Khan was filming at Shivaji Park, a popular location in Dadar. After the man’s suspicious behaviour, he was taken to the Shivaji Park police station for further questioning.
This incident comes against the backdrop of growing concerns regarding threats against Salman Khan, particularly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The gang had earlier claimed responsibility for the shooting outside Khan’s residence in Bandra in April. In addition, the Bishnoi gang was linked to the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique in October. Reports suggested that a member of the gang had mentioned Salman Khan in relation to the killing, noting that anyone associated with the actor could also be targeted.
Salman Khan has been the recipient of numerous threats over the past months. Some of these threats have been proven to be hoaxes. Last month, a 24-year-old lyricist, whose song was featured in Khan’s upcoming film, was arrested for making a fake threat call to the police, claiming to be from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The motive behind the false threat was to generate publicity for the song.
In another incident in October, a man threatened Salman Khan’s life over the phone, demanding a ransom of ₹2 crore, or else he would be killed. The Bishnoi gang, notorious for its involvement in high-profile crimes, has also cited past grievances with Khan. Specifically, they accused him of killing a blackbuck in 1998 during the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain near Jodhpur, an act that angered the Bishnoi community, which reveres the blackbuck as sacred.
Lawrence Bishnoi, the leader of the gang, has previously made threats against Salman Khan, vowing to kill him in Jodhpur due to the blackbuck incident. In a 2018 court appearance, he declared, “We will kill Salman Khan in Jodhpur,” making it clear that the actor remained a target.
The police are continuing their investigation into the latest threat, while Salman Khan remains under heightened security following these ongoing concerns.
