Ajay Devgn has opened up about the audience response to Singham Again, the latest instalment in Rohit Shetty’s Singham franchise. While the film, released during Diwali 2024, earned a decent box office collection, it fell short of the extravagant expectations set for it. In a recent interview, Devgn addressed the feedback regarding the film, particularly the absence of the grand action sequences that had made his character, Bajirao Singham, a household name.

A clip from the interview surfaced on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where Devgn was candidly discussing the reaction to the film. The host mentioned that fans had expected the return of the action-packed, larger-than-life version of Singham, who is known for taking on villains with his intense action style. Devgn responded in agreement, acknowledging that many people had expressed similar thoughts.

“I think I received a similar reaction from many. So, we are going to ensure that the next time – the authentic feel of Singham, where he does intense action – will definitely be a part of the film,” Devgn said.

 

Directed by Rohit Shetty and produced under the banner of Jio Studios, Singham Again was the third film in the Singham series and the fifth film in Shetty’s expansive cop universe. The film saw the return of Kareena Kapoor Khan as Avni Bajirao Singham, with a strong supporting cast including Arjun Kapoor as the lead antagonist. Key cameos were made by Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, and Akshay Kumar.

Despite the high-profile cast and the anticipation surrounding the film, Singham Again did not entirely live up to the grand action spectacles that fans have come to expect from the Singham franchise. The film’s release on November 1, 2024, coinciding with Diwali, set high expectations for a massive hit, but the movie was met with mixed reviews.

While the film performed decently at the box office, Devgn’s candid acknowledgement of the feedback highlights the importance of maintaining the action-packed essence of the character in future instalments. Fans can now look forward to a more intense and authentic Singham in the next chapter of the franchise.
