Actress-turned-politician and BJP leader Smriti Irani is one of the most famous faces of the television industry. The actress is always seen as an inspiration for many. Smriti made her acting debut with TV serials ‘Aatish’ and ‘Hum Hain Kal Aaj Aur Kal’. Her role as Tulsi Virani in the show ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ made her a household name. For those who don’t know, Smriti married Zubin Irani in the year 2001. The couple is parents to their two children, Zohar and Zoish.

If we talk about her childhood and struggles, then we must admit that it was a tough time for her. Smriti Irani recently recalled the bad days of her childhood and said, ‘Today I am remembering an anecdote of my mother in this conversation. I am 48 years old. I will turn 49 in the coming March. But when I was seven years old, one day I and my two younger sisters were given rice and black lentils in a plate to eat.’

Smriti further said, ‘We three were sitting in a room and eating rice and lentils when suddenly an emergency came in the house. We three did not know what kind of emergency it was. In the meantime, my mother came in the room and asked if you guys had eaten food. We said yes. I was seven years old. My younger sister was five years old and the youngest was only two years old’

Smriti Irani further said, ‘Because I was the eldest, I saw the opportunity and asked my mother what we have to do, because today is Sunday. She said – your bags are packed and you three are going with me. I don’t remember asking her why our bags are packed. But yes, I definitely remember that I saw her sitting in a rickshaw. She had a cylinder, 2 daughters and bags with her and she was waiting for me. I was standing outside the house and I asked why we were leaving from here. Though she didn’t answer me I got the answer it was money so I worked hard and after 41 years I bought the same house for my mom.’
