Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal, who tied the knot in June this year after dating for seven years, have been the subject of pregnancy rumours recently. The couple sparked these speculations when they were spotted outside a clinic together, and a photo from their newlywed days seemed to further fuel the gossip. However, in a recent conversation with Curly Tales, Sonakshi finally addressed the rumours with her signature wit and humor.
When asked about the couple’s social engagements after marriage, Sonakshi responded lightheartedly, “Yes, and guys, mein yahan par kehna chahti hu, I’m not pregnant. Mein bas moti ho chuki hu.” (I want to say here that I’m not pregnant. I have just gained weight). She then added, “That day somebody congratulated him (Zaheer). Can’t we just enjoy our marriage?” Zaheer, playing along, jokingly remarked, “The next day her diet started.”
Sonakshi further explained that the newlyweds had been busy traveling and enjoying their time together. “It’s only been four months, we are genuinely busy traveling so much. We are enjoying ourselves, and people’s lunch and dinner are not getting over,” she said. Zaheer quipped, “The funny part is it came out of somewhere. There was a photo of us with our dog, and they were like ‘Oh, she is pregnant.’ I was like, how is it even related?” Sonakshi echoed his sentiments, calling it all “crazy.”
The pregnancy rumours began after an October Instagram post where Sonakshi shared a picture with Zaheer, holding their dog in her arms. The caption, “Guess the pookie,” led many followers to congratulate the couple, with comments such as “Congratulations on the pregnancy” and “Congrats for having a little one soon.”
Sonakshi and Zaheer, who had been in a long-term relationship, finally tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on June 23. The wedding was attended by close family and friends, including Huma Qureshi and Aditi Rao Hydari, and was followed by a grand reception that saw the presence of Bollywood stars like Rekha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Salman Khan, and Richa Chadha.
Despite the flurry of speculation, Sonakshi and Zaheer have made it clear that they are simply enjoying their new life together, with no plans for any changes just yet.
