Sonakshi Sinha Slams Mukesh Khanna For Criticising Father On Ramayana Fumble: ‘Distasteful Statement’
Actor Sonakshi Sinha has issued a strong rebuttal to veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, who recently blamed her father, Shatrughan Sinha, for her inability to answer a question about the Ramayana on the game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) in 2019. Taking to Instagram Stories, Sonakshi called out Mukesh for repeatedly bringing up the incident to “stay in the news” at her family’s expense.
The controversy stems from a KBC 11 episode in which Sonakshi, alongside another contestant, struggled to answer for whom Hanuman brought the Sanjeevani booti in the Ramayana. In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Mukesh Khanna criticised Shatrughan Sinha for not educating his daughter about the epic, suggesting this reflected poorly on her upbringing.
Responding sharply, Sonakshi wrote, “Dear Mukesh Khanna ji, I recently read a statement you made saying that it’s my father’s fault I did not answer a question about the Ramayana correctly on a show I attended many years ago. Let me remind you, there were two women on the hot seat that day who didn’t know the answer, but you repeatedly single out my name for reasons that are quite obvious.”
Sonakshi explained that her inability to answer the question was a momentary lapse and urged Mukesh to move on. “Yes, I blanked out that day—a human tendency. But clearly, you have forgotten lessons of forgive and forget taught by Lord Ram himself. If Lord Ram could forgive Manthara, Kaikeyi, and even Ravan, surely you can let go of this small incident… not that I need your forgiveness,” she added.
The actor also warned Mukesh against questioning her upbringing. “The next time you comment on the values my father has instilled in me, remember it’s because of those values that I have responded respectfully, despite your distasteful statements about my upbringing. I wish you well,” Sonakshi concluded.
In his interview, Mukesh Khanna had spoken about the generational gap in values, indirectly referencing Sonakshi. He remarked, “It’s not Sonakshi’s fault; it’s her father’s fault. Why did you not teach your kids about Ramayana? Why let them be so modern?”
Sonakshi’s response has reignited the debate, with fans supporting her stance and criticizing Mukesh for repeatedly targeting her over an incident from years ago.
