Singer Sonu Nigam captivated his fans during a live concert in Kolkata on February 10, but a few unruly audience members forced him to take matters into his own hands. While performing, Nigam became visibly frustrated with some individuals who stood up during the show, prompting him to intervene for crowd control.
In a video shared by a fan from the event, Sonu was seen addressing the audience, urging them to sit down. “Agar tum ko khada hona hi hain, election mein khade ho jaao yaar! Please bithao. Jaldi karo… itna time jaa raha hain mera maalum hain? Apka cut off time aa jayga phir, baithao! Jaldi baitho! Baitho! Bahar niklo! Make this space empty,” Nigam said, humorously but firmly, telling the audience that if they wanted to stand, they could do so at an election rally. He further emphasized, “Sit down quickly! My time is getting cut, go sit. Sit fast, get out.”

His remarks were met with mixed reactions from the audience, but many fans on social media showed their support for the singer. Some fans expressed their disappointment over the poor crowd management by the event organizers, with one comment reading, “It was so disgusting that due to poor management by organisers, Sonu Sir had to intervene himself. So shameful.” Another comment echoed similar sentiments: “He actually had to manage the crowd and security himself. Because the management was so poor. Reading lots of reports on the internet about it.”
One fan also pointed out the potential dangers of poor crowd control, recalling the tragic death of singer KK in June 2022. “He had to do it by himself because he knows what happened to KK due to this type of management & security… Everyone will have to do this here and everywhere while running the show for self-security,” the user said, referring to the incident where KK fell ill and passed away after performing at Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata.
In addition to the crowd issues, Sonu Nigam had recently shared an Instagram post revealing that he had suffered from a severe back spasm while performing live. He described the pain as excruciating, likening it to a needle being pricked into his spine. Despite the physical discomfort, Nigam continued with his performance, showing his dedication to entertaining his fans.
