The Spider-Man franchise is a gift that keeps on coming. Sony Pictures Entertainment India announced: “Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which was released in December 2021, was a huge success, and earned Rs 200 crore in India upon release, is all set for a re-release in theatres soon with some new additional footage, and it will be released in English and Hindi. The film’s re-release will see new footage that wasn’t in the first theatrical release.”
“Spider-Man: No Way Home” was a joint production between Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios, and was part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The superhero epic, starring Tom Holland as Marvel’s neighbourhood web-slinger, had grossed over USD 721 million at the domestic box office and USD 970 million internationally. Sony’s India division said in a statement: “After the massive success of Spider-Man: No Way Home in the Spider-Man franchise, Sony Pictures Entertainment India now announces the re-release of the superhero film with new additional footage across cinemas in India on September 2nd.”
Sharing the new poster of the film on social media, the studio also said that the film will be released in Hindi along with the original English. However, some fans are miffed that the film is not being released in Tamil and Telugu versions. A fan commented, “Why isn’t it releasing in the Tamil dub?” Another wrote, “Needs release in Telugu dub.” To be known, when the film was originally released last year, it was dubbed and released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
However, many fans have expressed happiness over the extended cut release of the film in theatres. One fan wrote: “Definitely going to see it in theatres again.” Many fans have started asking when the advance booking of the film will start. But for the time being, these details, for anyone who wants to know, are yet to be shared by the studio. “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, directed by Sam Raimi, which starred Tom Holland as a superhero in his third solo film, also saw the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, who played protagonists in the previous franchise.
