Director-choreographer Ahmed Khan, renowned for his work on films like Baaghi 2, Baaghi 3, and Heropanti 2, recently reflected on a memorable moment from the making of the iconic song “Chaand Taare” from the 1997 film Yes Boss. Khan recalled the shoot that took place on the streets of Bandstand, right outside Shah Rukh Khan’s residence, Mannat, during the song’s filming.
The song “Chaand Taare,” which became a symbol of youthful ambition and dreams, was shot in an area that, at the time, wasn’t the landmark it is today. Ahmed Khan, who had a major role in conceptualizing and choreographing the song, shared an amusing story from the set. “We were shooting outside Mannat, but back then, it wasn’t as famous as it is now,” he recalled. During the shoot, there was a moment when things didn’t go as planned. Ahmed explained, “I made Shah Rukh jump onto a Parsi’s vehicle for a scene, and something went wrong. We were asked by a security guard to move ahead.”
During the situation, Shah Rukh Khan, quipped, “If we need to take the shot, should I just buy the vehicle?” To which Ahmed, with his characteristic sense of humour, replied, “Yes, buy it, and we’ll shoot it here properly.” This exchange led to an insightful reflection for Ahmed. “It made me realize that whenever you say something, you should always aim for the best, and it often happens just as you envision,” he added.
The incident became even more meaningful in hindsight, as the area outside Mannat is now synonymous with Shah Rukh Khan’s legacy, and the song itself has remained an iconic anthem. “It was a small incident, but it taught me that when you think big, things often come together in unexpected ways,” Ahmed shared.
Looking back, the shoot for “Chaand Taare” remains one of the most cherished moments for Ahmed, as it not only captured a beautiful song but also marked a significant chapter in his career. As Mannat’s presence in the song now stands as a piece of Bollywood history, Ahmed’s anecdote adds another layer to the charm of this unforgettable track.
On the professional front, Ahmed Khan is gearing up to begin the final schedule of Welcome to the Jungle, which will be shot in the picturesque locations of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
